From the delta of the River Nile in Egypt, through Ethiopia, Sudan, Congo, Nigeria and Ghana, we have prevailed with a common purpose to help one another both in times of plenty and in times of extreme difficulty. Our nonprofit organization was formed to provide sensible solutions to strengthen our communities through social and cultural education. We've consistently grown since then, all thanks to the helping hands of our amazing GaDangbe and Friends community!

In September of 2021, our Secretary Mr Laud Ankrah paid a visit to The Shelter for Abused Children in Osu during his last trip to Ghana. It’s a government institution built in 1950 to protect, build character, care and teach basic social, technical and vocational skills to abandoned children, and child victims of crimes such as forced marriages and other abuses.
It is the only center of its kind in the whole country of Ghana. The government’s support and contribution alone has never been enough to provide all the needs of the center. And like many institutions, the center has been hit badly by the Covid-19 pandemic. The facility which to a large extent relies on the benevolence of individuals for the smooth running of its vocational training center, is now struggling to provide training materials to the children.
The list of the needs of the facility outlined at the meeting with the manager Ms Gifty Tekpor include security, renovation of existing buildings and the walls surrounding the compound, more dormitories, an infirmary, recreational facilities, food, children’s dresses, shoes, toys, textbooks and other educational materials for the children.
In the manager’s appeal to Mr Ankrah, she iterated that the center is a home for the abused child so they need a lot of support to make the place a safe haven for the children, as well as the support the children need to enable them to acquire more knowledge and skills to become responsible adults in society.
After the initial exploratory meeting with the management and tour of the facility, Mr Ankrah returned on a later date to donate bags of corn, cassava dough, fish, chicken, groundnut paste, flour, margarine, breakfast beverages, and toiletries to the center on behalf of the Gadangbe Association of Southern California using Mrs. Edu’s donation to the association in honor of her late husband Mr. Maurice Edu.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
